Most IT skills abroad are not needed here. All the trending skills you see online not needed here. Here you only need a strong connection.

Beside Nigeria being an outdated country doesn't encourage growth of IT companies that's why what trends abroad doesn't trend here as far as IT is concerned.

Out of 50 computer science graduate here only four may have heard that word "Q & A". The others only know how to use MSword, type and edit document. At most data science or analysis.

The few programmers among us are stuck with java, python, php, HTML. Many don't know of go, ruby, elixr, react, etc. We get to hear of these languages for the first time in our life when we visit Canadian or European recruitment websites with hope of getting job there after thinking we are good developers. We get confused to discover the skills we had are not in demand as the new skills there.

If you visit a Nigerian recruitment site you won't ever find Q A after searching for one month. Neither will you see penetration testing and other quality assessment/vulnerability testing skills.

Learn what you can learn and travel out to where you can be useful if like me you are the type that love learning new things especially new technologies. If your goal is to remain in Nigeria don't waste any space of your brain learning anything new. This is because Nigerian companies and govt don't believe in their own. They rather contract these kind of jobs oversea and leave you to do ridiculous job of resolving hardware/software usage complaints from fellow staff even when they know you have the skill. That's because of the corrupt deal requiring them to bypass you will pay them. I have been there personally

The good thing about tech is that your market isn't limited to Nigeria. You can also work remotely or get a job with visa sponsorship to another country. Location should not stop you from getting tech skills if you want to.
