All my speculations were correct.
(1) We lost most of our games this season because we played/wasted Henderson or Fabinho as CB instead DM and let actual CBs play and let them bond.

(2) Origi is a ST. Not a LW. He should continue as a ST.

(3) Lastly, Nat Philips is as good as Joe Gomez.

This game doesn't mean anything though. UCL get e own spirit. We might go back to Premier League and continue our losing streak.

Joe is better on the ball. And is miles ahead of Nat when it comes to pace.

I still think they're at same level. Gomez is faster and better on the ball like you said but he lacks physicality. Plus, Gomez has been playing with Virgil. Virgil makes everybody look good yet Gomez doesn't have a goal for Liverpool.

Nat on the other hand is a well balanced out defender. For a defender, his speed is okay. He's stronger than Gomez, better in the air and he's been playing superbly in a terrible Liverpool team at the moment. Probably has more MOTM than Gomez at this point. It's not difficult to identify a decent defender.
I'd say he's done enough to be rated with Gomez.

Yes. Virgil makes others look good no doubt. But playing alongside Van Dijk attracts some responsibilities.

1. Imagine being targeted by strikers who would not want to have a go at Virgil. Joe has coped really well with that.

2. Unlike now that the CB's get some protection. The presence of Virgil in the team gives the full backs license to roam freely forward. Meaning the team actually play with 2 defenders. Something like 2-3-5 when attacking. Joe has coped really well with that.

I agree with the physicality aspect. Nat is a very good defender. But Joe Gomez is still a few steps ahead of him.

I agree with you from a tactical standpoint. Gomez fits in the Liverpool high line/offside trap better than Nat because he possesses enough gate speed.
Nat on the other hand like I said is a balanced out defender. He'll do better than Gomez playing for teams like Milan or Everton.

If we're talking about individuality as Centre Backs, I'm not going to mince words at all. Gomez = Nat because tbh, the abilities of Gomez is that of a full back. He's not a traditional CB.
Only Liverpool and Bayern convert fullbacks into CBs. It does make them a very strong side though.

Kinda makes me realize that football has evolved and that just like how you can't compare two wingers ; one playing as an inside forward, the other playing as a full-time winger(former is a goalscorer and latter would assist) - maybe we shouldn't compare Gomez and Nat as they play totally different roles. They complement each other.
