The accounting structure of the Federal Government and its parastatals and agencies is a mess.

This is partly why fraud is so easy to commit in Nigeria. The accounting system is so opaque, disjointed and unintegrated that money can leave on account and never get to its destination and there are no system controls to prevent this from happening, much less identifying it.

Federal Government should be utilizing a fully integrated ERP system such SAP to manage the affairs of the country, but even with the "brilliant" minds in government, they will never suggest, much less implement it for selfish, corrupt reasons.

PS: May we not be in that situation where things are happening and we have little or no control over it.
