The Federal Government has further extended the work-from-home directive to civil servants on Salary Grade Levels 12 and below.

This was contained in a circular titled, ‘Stay-at-home directive continues’, dated March 3, by the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Folashade Yemi-Esan.

It read, “Further to the circular No: HCSF/3065/Vol.1/68 dated 26th January 2021, and following the advice of the presidential task force on COVID-19, all officers on SGL 12 and below are to continue working from home till the end of March 2021.

“While it is acknowledged that there has been a reduction in the number of reported cases of COVID-19, it is important that this downward trend be maintained. It is to this end, that the work-from-home directive has to continue as specified above.

“It is also important to emphasise the need to ensure strict compliance with the existing guidelines on the prevention and spread of COVID-19.

“Permanent Secretaries and Chief Executive Officers are enjoined to bring the contents of this circular to the attention of all concerned and ensure strict compliance.”

Now that we have vaccines, start with vaccination for top government workers and let them continue working.. They can't stay at home while tax payers money is been used to pay them salaries.

This is only possible in a country where productivity of goods and services does not matter. Other nations are doubling their efforts to make up for the lost time during the lock down, our government is still extending the holidays of public servants to curtail the spread of the viruses. The questions begging for answers are:

Apart from government offices, can't these workers still contact it in their crowded business places or are they observing social distancing at home?

Levels 13 and above that should be reporting to the office, are they immune to the virus by virtue of their rank?

If salary is paid hourly or based on daily output, can't the government put measures in place to ensure that these workers remain in their work places while taking precautions against the pandemic?

Private companies have put preventive and precautionary measures in place to prevent the spread while encouraging production.

At this rate, it will take eternity for our economy to recover from this pandemic.. it's free salary for many who "work from home" without electricity and internet connections. We are indeed unique.

This is commendable...I always tell people that President Buhari is the only president in Nigerias history that have the interests of the nation at heart...he's not a man for one but for all...again he has proven this fact...the workers should make sure they remain diligent and steadfast in carrying out their various duties from home.
Our obodo Nigeria must be great.
