Any New Security Outfit Formed By Gani Adams Will Not Be Different From Amotekun. It will be compromised like Amotekun. The problem lies in yoruba tradition, not the security outfit; that's why there are many security outfits in yorubaland but no tangibility. Yoruba tradition makes it very difficult, if not impossible for meaningful ordinary yorubas who mean well to wake up and charter a course for yorubas. The tradition gives power to the traditional rulers, spiritual leaders, politicians and elders to be involved, If not, that agenda will not materialize. But the problem is these leaders are compromised.

Now to the facts: do you notice yoruba leaders have pushed Igboho to the side, by giving Gani Adams the mandate to form a new security outfit. The problem is Gani Adams is no longer the Gani Adams he was once. Like Iwauzurike and Asari Dokubo, all of whom were arrested around the same time, and settled with millions to support Nigerian state, a condition for their release. People don't know this! Like most yoruba leaders, Gani Adams is compromised and loyal to the Nigerian state. Meaning, like Amotekun, the new outfit intelligence and operations will be leaked and dictated by Aso Rock.

Igboho though not perfect could have formed an insular security outfit like ESN, free of the control of corrupt leaders but yoruba tradition is far different from the Igbos to let that happen. With Igbos, if a 10-yr-old boy comes out and say this is fact and it makes sense to the people, the people will follow him regardless of the what the elders or traditional leaders say. What's funny is once Igbo elders sense that the people are with that 10-yr-old, they too will align and follow or stay neutral. Such can never happen in yorubaland as the traditional rulers and elders call all the shot!

igboho cannot form ESN because his mentality and objective is different. ESN is of the mindset that way is eminent so there are elements of it's structure designed to address this situation as a war. Igboho is on a cleansing mission, trying to get rid of herdsmen in his people's land. Which has the following issues

1. The Fulani herdsmen see this as a war, like ESN
2. 'his people's land' is ambiguious because the SW is a collection of peoples rather than 'a people', so he has a specific area of jurisdiction and if he crosses it he will have problems. Where as ESN has emphasized the oneness of biafrans.

3. Igboho is unfortunately primative. Everyone will defend the person from their ethnic group against a person from another ethnic group but a spade is a spade. Igboho is going to war against people with AK-47s and government funding with a juju vest lol. When the issue of funding came up he asserted he doesn't need donations, which is a very primitive mentality.

4. Igboho's mission was hoisted on him when he himself didn't take it upon himself. Whenever something happens in the sw we look for the equivalent in the east and when something happens in the east we do the opposite and this is a mentality we must rid ourselves of. Igboho fought herdsmen when they became a problem for his specific group of Yoruba people in his state. He was then assumed to be on a regionwide mission by those looking for a Kanu equivalent. Truth is there's no Igboho in the SE right now and no Kanu in the SW and each person has to be understood in isolation. and whether we like it or not, the fact that Igboho refuses funding means he's susceptible to corruption. Kanu has proven unbribeable, but part of that strength comes from the fact that whatever the government can give him, IPOB can give him as well. Everyone is accountable to the one that feeds them.

you are right about Adams, Uwazuruike and Dokubo. That generation is long gone.

I'm not yoruba, but I think OP made a good point. In fact from what you wrote, I'm beginning to understand how the larger yoruba society functions.

Thanks for this lecture!

The problem with the yoruba is that they talk too much and make a while lot of noise.....

When Amotekun was formed... We saw the noise and the funfare around it.. where is the Amotekun today.... It's a tiger without a claw

Now they are copying the ugbi by calling it SWSN .... Now they have started. Making noise again without firming anything

Did you see Kanu make noise or tell people about his ESN before it came out.... SW are too damn noisy and folks don't take noisy folks serious

In the movie The Good , The Bad and and Ugly ... There is a quote there "if you want to shoot , shoot and don't talk "
