The relatively free and fair elections into the State and Federal House of Assemblies held last weekend with revelations and insights on the strengths and weaknesses of the parties.

The Strong contenders (forget the numerous proliferation of weak groups parading as political parties!)remain[b] PDP, ACN, ANPP, CPC (and some few[/b] others)and their performance in the Saturday election can be used as a yard stick to predict their performance in other forthcoming elections.From the results, PDP still remains strong (though they lost some seats),they still won in a majority of the states followed by the ACN and the ANPP.

The CPC ,I believe, were under-performers.Despite all the hype and noise, one would have thought they would 'capture' all the seats in the North but this was not the case.Had they been able to win the Northern spots, you could have thought of making permutations with them stealing some relatively good votes from the South to clinch the presidency but with their poor performance in mind, can this party dream of winning the presidential elections?

Point blankly,neither the ANPP,CPC nor ACN can tackle the PDP on their own:There is a strong need for an alliance else, come May 29,a PDP-led government will kick off again in NIgeria.

If the political parties are really keen on unseating the PDP they should work on their differences and selfish interests and think about the general good of Nigeria.

A STRATEGIC ALLIANCE IS THE WAY FORWARD!
