Unlike the popular opinion that women are hard to come by in sports, the frontier has changed immensely in the past decade and more women continue to break grounds in sports. Sports has been welcoming to women and it is one of the most powerful platforms for promoting gender equality and empowering women in today’s world. Women are making mark in it and it is worthy of emulation. The most inspiring women are those who play sports, run tracks and share their opinion by writing or speaking on radio and TV or who stand on or beside the pitch and report sport events for lovers of the game. These women are reputable international stars to acclaimed media personalities.

Asisat Oshoala

At her young age, Asisat is the only Nigerian woman to have represented top-tier teams in England and in Spain. In less than three years, Asisat has scored more than 60 goals for both clubs and country.

The four-time African Women’s Footballer of the Year has helped Nigeria to three African Women’s Championship titles and was part of the U20 team that reached the final of the 2014 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup that took place in Canada.

Eniola Aluko

The Nigerian-born Eni Aluko won over 100 caps for England and she will be remembered for her calling out her ex-coach Mark Sampson for alleged racism. She also played for Chelsea women and Juventus women. She spent a total of eight years at Chelsea, where she scored 68 goals in 158 appearances.

She remains an active figure in the industry, however, working as a pundit and regularly writing in the Guardian about the intersection of football, race and gender. She is also the current Sporting director of Aston Villa Women Football Club.

During her job as a pundit at the 2018 World Cup, she gave an acute assessment of Costa Rica’s style of play.

Osereme Inegbenebor

Pop culture is the line connecting music, movies, sports, gaming, fashion and lifestyle. Engaging young people without these topics these days has been a challenge and this is where we find Osereme Inegbenebor pushing that agenda.

As a co-host on Budweiser’s Kings of Football show on DSTV’s SuperSport, she has quickly become the most sought-after pundit in Nigeria on the coolest sports show on TV. As an actor, presenter and fashion model, Osareme has introduced fashion and pop culture into the show. It is no surprise she is appealing to football lovers who flood the show every week.

Chioma Chukwujindu Onyekwere

The world of athletics has celebrated numerous and successful names. Among all these big names is Chioma nicknamed Cici. Her energetic throws have made her a name to reckon with in Discus. She has set records in high school, African championships and world championships.

She holds a personal best record of 61.38 meters for the Discus throw at the 2019 World Athletics Championships.

Academically, she has been recognized for her academic achievement as a student athlete at the University of Maryland for four years by the Big Ten.

Te’a Cooper

She has been the cover girl for the newly rebranded Women National Basketball (WNBA). Fans applaud her for her physique and talent. She is also engaged to NBA player Dwight Howard. She plays for Los Angeles Sparks in the WNBA. After helping Baylor University to No.1 Ap ranking, teams in the WNBA were forced to make the professional call for her.

Those wey you list nor reach her self.
