This Falana don't have sense
Does he not know that government involvement in business kills private interest,
Even if they manage to build one, the are not meant to run it but hand it over to private professionals to handle.
Government has no business doing business, and refineries are a business not a dividend of democracy.

a very big shame to federal government and our leaders both past and present. To avoid future case of monopoly, Modula refineries should be allowed to function to ensure competition.
For those that are economist, you understand the effect of monopoly and competition, we know which is better.

Is it really the Federal Government's fault that the refineries are not working or the fault of we Nigerians?

Sometimes people just say rubbish to trend.

Despite the huge billions pumped into TAM for these refineries yet nothing comes out because we Nigerians as a people are never serious once it is government property. Government property is always an avenue to loot with nothing to worry about.

All Dangote's businesses are managed by non Nigerians....That's the only way to ensure big businesses get going. This current administration has decided to do something different to put an end to all the refineries issues for decades and instead of getting the support Falana decides to propagate lies.

Falana is neither here nor there!!!

He says one thing today, the next time it's another

What he's saying is right but will he stick to it if Dangote ask him to represent him tomorrow

Gani Fawehinmi will be turning in his grave!!!

Why are you mentioning Gani fawehinmi here?
You guy are MFs, you condemn present Yoruba Elites then praise our past Elites only when it suit your narrative, only naive Yoruba fall for this tactics.

It is better. Governments cannot run refineries successfully in Nigeria. More private ones are coming too

What does representing Dangote as his lawyer got to do with his statement?

Criticizing government doesn't mean you won't work for them if given a federal job.

This is an oil-producing country and on a yearly basis huge money is an earmark for fixing refineries.
But instead of fixing refineries, our government pre democracy and since 1999 imports fuel from other countries including from countries that don’t produce fuel.

There was a country!

Every time you always try to blame Jonathan and the previous Govt. That's all you know how to write.

This is 6years since your master entered how far?? Are we now producing fuel

Too much sense makes no sense....

You tried....but it's still nonsense.

See this country has been crippled by greedy leaders..... Don't blame the masses when they don't show any seriousness with government properties as you claim....it's vice versa....The government don't care about them too

When government gets involved in business it drives potential investors away as it does not level the playing ground, they can enter partnerships fund PPP amongst other things.
The only time government should undertake a project is if there is no willing investor and it is a must have, even at that it should not be managed by them.
As far as am concerned we have a lot of willing investors in the Nigerian oil industry.
Re: Falana: It Is A Shame Dangote Could Build Refinery But FG Couldn't by GeneralZodd(m): 6:36am On Mar 16, 2021
Mr Falana you cannot separate Dangote from the Government, Dangote is the government and the government is Dangote.

With Dangote's involvement in the oil sector...The playing field isn't totally level.....

If you scrutinize this issue properly.... You'll find that after the Judiciary... executive and legislature..... Dangote is the fourth arm of the government.

I'm not saying this is bad....He has provided a lot of employment to Nigerians... something the government still struggles with.....But there's also a cost.....

It's like he's telling the Government I'll employ your citizens if you put me a step ahead of others when it comes the business affairs of the Nation..

And this isn't fair to other investors also....I stand to be corrected...but I feel this is an indirect way through which the Government involves itself...and it doesn't create a levelled playing field

Joysticks:
Buhari who is the minister of petroleum is the one increasing fuel price.
He is only preparing the way, expect #500 per liter before Dangote take-off.

iwaeda:
We were promised one refinery per year.

Dangote is no longer an individual but a country created by every past & present political leaders. Why will a president build a functioning refinery with public funds for the people when he is only sure to milk money from it only when he is in power. Well as, he can take the same public funds and invest it in Dangote's refinery and enjoy dividend forever.
Nigeria can't be redeemed. . .

the government of any country is the first local investor of that country...

so saying "Government has no business doing business" is pure foolishness...

the biggest companies in the world have their indigenous government as investors...

in most of this countries, the govt. and its citizens are the same ethnicity which means no room for discrimanation. ...

In Nigeria, refineries weren't built because southern Nigeria has foolish leaders...

dangote's refinery will mostly have northerners in the employment since its not government owned it means there's no room for federal character ( representation of multiple ethnic nations )...

Its a simple mou between d northern govt nd dangote, this is the plan:
Instead of we building refinery in the name of govt and when power change hand we cant have acess to it again, why not we build it in ur name(dangote) so that we would retain it if power eventually returns to the south, we can still be controlling the countrys resources even when we are nt in power(northern monogamy)
