Buhari Weeps •it’s A Public Show Of Shame - Pdp by Nobody: 7:03am On Apr 14, 2011
IT was like a movie of sorts in Abuja, on Wednesday, at an event to mark the end of the campaign of the presidential candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), Major-General Muhammadu Buhari (retd), as the former head of state went emotional and continuously shed tears while delivering his speech.

Buhari, who could not hold back tears as he read his speech at the International Conference Centre, venue of the event, vowed that Saturday’s presidential election would be the last he would contest.

The presidential candidate stated that he was seeking to clinch the presidency as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had done much havoc to Nigerians and their reputation.

He insisted that he joined the presidential race out of personal conviction and concern for the welfare of the Nigerian people.

According to him, he had never at any time embezzled public fund throughout his career and challenged all the candidates in the presidential race to make the same claim before the Nigerian public, if they have not done so.

Buhari, who received two awards, Noble Father of Nigerian Youths and Icon of Nigerian Democracy, from the Nigerian Youths Organisation, (NYO), at the ceremony, alleged that the years of PDP’s government were marred with “unforgettable look of dejection and despondency on the faces of Nigerians.”

The sufferings of majority of the Nigerian citizen, he maintained, witnessed “systematic despoiling and pillaging of the country’s economy by parties and individuals, without much thought for due process or care for tomorrow.”

According to him, “these are the horrific realities of life in our country today and they are a mere fraction of the numerous difficulties, agonies and frustrations being faced daily by the vast majority of our people.”

However, the presidential campaign council of the PDP has expressed shock and dismay at what it called “Buhari’s public show of shame at an Abuja town hall meeting, which he organised “in the face of the stark realities of defeat that await him in the Saturday presidential poll.”

The council said against the dummy of a disciplined, no-nonsense army general “made of sterner stuff” Buhari long sold to the Nigerian public, he broke down like a suckling to the embarrassment of the audience at the Abuja town hall event, without provocation, on Wednesday.

The campaign group said Buhari’s queer and suspicious behaviour came on the heels of the poor showing of the CPC at the National Assembly election on Saturday, adding that his action followed immediately on the heels of the collapse of the renewed alliance talks between the CPC and the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN).

The council said it saw the action as a desperate measure from his bag of tricks to whip up sentiments in his favour from unwary voters which, it said, Buhari had preconceived by rehearsing it privately before the so-called town hall meeting.

“His target is clearly unwary voters, hence he made sure that even the most obscure and fringe North-centered media house was invited for the event,” it said.

How can such a man bear the pressures of the office of the President!

Nigeria will not make the same mistake twice. We do not want another set of Saudi Arabian medical bills. This time it will be about trying to handle a psychiatric case. Game over.

PAST RECORD: In August 2006, the EFCC had seized the sum of N104 Million from one Mrs. Nancy Ebere Nwosu. Nwosu testified on oath that the money belonged to Mrs. Jonathan, then the Bayelsa State first lady, and that she was a mere mule, con, tracted to launder the loot. The case eventually made its way through the EFCC’s convoluted investigative hoops, ending up in the court of Justice Anwuli Chikere of the Federal High Court Abuja. Then, like all corruption cases involving favored members of the PDP family, the case fizzled out, never to be officially mentioned again. Even the fate of the seized money, which Justice Chikere ordered frozen, is still a mystery.

Another incident came to light before the dust of the first incident settled. The story, widely reported in September 2006 in the local and international media, was of yet another EFCC interception of funds traced to the then Bayelsa first lady. This time, the amount in question was an unheard of $13.5 Million. Like the previous loot, it was destined for laundering in offshore schemes. Mr. Osita Nwajah, the EFCC spokesman, gleefully announced the seizure. Again, the case disappeared into the the PDP’s labyrinth of impunity.

CURRENT RECORD: Our public debt is 17.8% of the GDP while crude oil accounts for 95% of our exports. Our foreign reserves have gone down from $72 billion in 2008 to $33 billion in 2011. Our gross external debt has been put at $9.689 billion and the Gross Domestic Debt has shot up from $13.6 billion in 2006 to $21.8 billion.

South Africa gave a contract for 5,000MW at just $3b, but Nigeria spent over $17b in 11 years on power to generate less than 2,000MW. The 2011 budget shows that the government will have to borrow additional N1.3 trillion in 2011, to finance a deficit. The National Assembly has widened the deficit gap further by jacking the budget up by about N700 billion!

Excess Crude Account was valued at $22 billion in 2007 but was down to less than $4 billion by 2010. Our Domestic debt grew rapidly between March December, 2010 by up to as much as $30 billion. The state of insecurity has become increasingly worrisome.

Manufacturers consume 8.7 million liters of diesel weekly for their operations, amounting to about N903 million weekly or N3.6 billion monthly. A total of 834 manufacturing companies closed their factories in 2009. 176 firms were shut down in the Northern area, comprising the Kano and Kaduna states manufacturing axis. In the South-East-178, the South West- 225, in the Lagos area, 214 manufacturers closed their factories. The implications in terms of job loss can only be imagined.

Yet PDP continues to deceive the common man.

I Salute the People General, for the effort and dedication he has put into wanting to rescue this country.

I Wept in 2007 and I weep again for my fellow Nigerian, who fail to grasp an opportunity that may never present itself again.

Only those who lie to themselves would believe that Mrs Jonathan is not guilty. It is clear to me now that Nigerians are happy to continue to live with evil

Only one sleepless night and he has a mental breakdown afterwards!

The job of the President is not for weaklings. If he has lost hope, how will he give hope to Nigerians?

I repeat: THERE IS NO HOPE IN THE PAST, HOPE IS IN THE FUTURE

Buhari is a passionate and honest man, what he did is not shameful; many women i know wouldn't weep for Nigeria, that's how passionate he is about this country. On the other hand i think that this country has become too sophisticated for his likes, they were great but it's time for something new.

Exactly my thoughts with the part in bold.

A PDP that parades thieves, looters, criminals, bomb terrorists, a President acting as MEND advocate on national tv, an unconstitutional first lady who goes around celebrating her illiterate mindset, polluting the minds of young generation with her bastardized English. . . . .yet this foolish, clueless and heartless party has the temerity to mention the word - Shame!

If you vote for Goodluck Jonathan this Saturday, then imagine Iyabo Obasanjo as Health Minister, Omisore as Internal Affairs Minister, Gbenga Daniel in Works and Housing, Oyinlola in Defence and Alao Akala (of course he's going to lose) in Police Affairs!! Bode George returns as Special Adviser and a presidential pardon. It will be business as usual, just as the last 12yrs have been!! THINK CHANGE, VOTE FOR CHANGE!!^
