I'm using S9 but I'd suggest the Xiaomi 10s. The display is oled, 90 hz refresh rate (S9+ is 60 hz). 10s is HDR 10 certified. The chipset won't slouch for most usage. The Android version is 11 while the S9+ will stop on 10. 10s also has more storage and RAM. The Xiaomi chipset should be more power efficient too.

if I were you, I would go for the s9+.

Mi 10s is better in all ramifications except if you like the brand 'Samsung'. Buying a brand new phone is better than buying a used phone.

They ain't in the same price range

S9plus = flagship phone
Xiaomi s10 = midrange phone
Choose wisely

My candid advice...

Xaomi any day except Samsung notes or s20

Having used the Samsung Galaxy series s8, s8 plus and s9 plus in recent times, my brother, I'll advice you go for the Mi 10S, asides the AMOLED screen and curved edges, or the iris scanner, there is nothing else that's special jare.

As earlier said, except you're going for s10 and above, the older s series are now bland jare. I have an s8 plus with me and it feels old

That's the the thing, the Xiaomi 10s actually has an AMOLED display, the only thing is that it has a lower resolution and PPI density than the S9+

Mi 10 s from the specs should be better than the s9plus but then again the phone is still new and costs above 600$ whilst the s9plus is less than 300$ so as u can see the price discrepancy gives the xiaomi the edge here.
If i were to suggest, if the op was factoring the mi 10s in his budget which is 600$ he should compare it with a similarly priced samsung like the s20 fe or s20 or even the entry level note 20 otherwise he should just go for the xiaomi.
I'm a samsung fan though, I'll just go for the samsung once the money passes 100k(give or take a few thousand) naira mark. But u see that below 100k, forget it, xiaomi owns that shit. I'll recommend and buy for my self xiaomi at that price point since they offer the most at that range.

Xiaomi has a bigger ba3 than s9 plus apart from that s9plus beats it in other departments. 10 nm is better than 12nm chip
Besides s9plus uses snapdragon processor a higher screen resolution with a better cam. Unless u want something new then you can go for xiaomi. I am still finding it hard to cope with full HD display I am already used to quad HD (2k) display.
