I want to urge the new chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC),
Mr. AbdulRasheed Bawa to ensure that his agency concludes investigation in cases before dragging suspects to court.

He should redeem the image of youths as the youngest man to be appointed by the Federal Government of Nigeria to head the anti-graft commission by ensuring that his fight against corruption is not selective.

The Federal Government, under the leadership of
President Muhammadu Buhari, should allow the newly-appointed EFCC boss to step on toes if truly we want to fight corruption in Nigeria.

The EFCC in the past, succeeded in convicting many fraudsters but has been unable to convict politicians.

Bawa should beam his searchlight on politicians and public office holders and uphold international best practices in fighting graft.

The EFCC needs to use capable criminal lawyers in drafting charges so the charges can hold before a court of competent jurisdiction.

Many Nigerians are wallowing in abject poverty because money meant for developmental projects end up in private pockets.

The EFCC should step up its game and warn his men, particularly the investigators, to consult their legal department for advice before putting any suspect in detention.

Also, he should note that debt recovery is not part of the EFCC job. Recently, Justice Iyabo Yerima of Oyo State High Court slammed the EFCC with the fine of
N200, 000 for violation of human rights because it was not part of its job to recover debt from any suspect.

Bawa should ensure that under his watch, the EFCC follows the rule of law. I wish him a successful tenure in office.

If You Could Tell The New EFCC Boss One Thing, What Would You Tell Him?
