As presidential election holds Saturday, the Save Nigeria Group (SNG), has distanced itself from the ambition of its co-founder, Pastor Tunde Bakare,  as the Vice-Presidential candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC).

Acting National Coordinator, SNG, Mr. Benedict Ezeagu, while explaining the reason for the decision in Abuja Thursday, said Bakare did not inform the group of his foray into politics even when he was confronted severally on the subject.

Ezeagu, while speaking with journalists on the issue, said the body will not support his (Bakare’s) ambition because he did not carry them along while he was making the moves despite persistent enquiry on some of his action before picking the Vice Presidential slot.

It would be recalled that the CPC Vice Presidential Candidate came under condemnation

for meeting with politicians before he was finally chosen for the slot.

However, the National Publicity Secretary of the CPC, Mr. Rotimi Fashakin, has dismissed the claims of the group as baseless, saying he does not know them and had never solicited for their support.

In a related development, SNG has commended the smooth conduct of the National Assembly elections despite some noticeable lapses, saying INEC Chairman, Professor Attahiru Jega, deserved applause for the conduct, which has offered a ray of hope that Nigerians can conduct credible, free and fair elections, which have been elusive.

“The meeting therefore congratulates Nigerian electorate for coming out en masse to exercise their franchise and for conducting themselves peacefully and orderly”, he said. The group also called on Nigerians to ensure they still come out en masse to cast their votes and charged INEC to improve on its operation by correcting all noticed lapses so as to have a better presidential election.

“Nonetheless, the meeting condemns strongly the unwarranted destruction of lives, property, and the snatching of ballot boxes and the deployment of minors and underage voters by criminal elements and enemies of democracy.

Bakare was so busy "prophesying" and using the name of SNG, that he forget about honesty, loyalty and truth.

He wasn't in SNG to save Nigeria, he was there to promote the Bakare brand.

It is a sad statement coming form them, Pastor Bakare has not only talked the Talk, (SNG), he is walking the Walk (VP candidate). Shame on those who try to villify him for this.
