Adamu Garba reveals the reason why banditry, unemployment and social vices are more in the North

Adamu Garba has revealed the reason why unemployment, banditry and social vices are more in northern Nigeria. The Nigerian politician stated this in his recent tweet on his Twitter account.

Sharing the thread, Adamu stated that unemployment, banditry, and social vices came to reality when Textile company in the north dismissed their workers.

He said the whole issues started in the 1980s when an estimated 175 Textile mills, each functioning at full capacity in Northern Nigeria. He disclosed that the Textile company provided 500,000 direct jobs, with each employee supporting about six relatives in a family.

Adamu said in 2014, the textile workers lost their jobs, mills shut down, and over 3 million people were under direct economic stress. He said without the demand for cotton by the textile mills, most cotton farmers also lost their jobs, and few moved over to less lucrative crop.

He revealed that it was a very catastrophic activity that has destroyed the industrial north. He said the ugly incident renders many families destitute. Send many into frustration and depression and crippling markets in Kano, Kaduna and Katsina due to the influx of Chinese contraband textile materials into the country.

He further stated that those who lost their jobs are still having children and building their families. He said the unemployment leads to banditry and other social vices in the north.
