Let me do small mathematics -
Divide d national budget by our population.
Then divide ur state budget by ur state's population.
Add d 2.
Will that take care of your average Nigerian's needs in a year?
No, not even close.
Not even for 3-6 months.

[MODIFIED- Do you realize that most FG and state budgets HARDLY EVER achieve 70% utilization?
Meaning even d budget wey u use calculate no make am! shocked]

So, if every kobo of the budget was spent in the most judicious and effective way, the current stats today- unemployment, inflation, poverty index, etc- will hardly get a bump.
This is what BOTH our politicians AND economic experts seem to fail to grasp.

Put in another, more obvious context-
Nigeria's GDP per capita (per person) is about the lowest in the world.
Go and Google it, I can't shout.

THIS MEANS THAT OUR BUDGET IS ALMOST POINTLESS, COMPARED TO OUR LOCAL ECONOMY.

Well, maybe it has a bit of a point.
But rather than wasting borrowed funds on passenger trains, govt should have been focusing on developing cottage industries (across all 774 LGAs) AND the agricultural value chain-
If this had been done in 2015, by now we'd be building our own trains- engine and all- and making our own JEANS!

Because industrialization isn't about setting up giant factories;
It's about favorable policies that engender growth, from lots of people doing the same thing- but using personal innovation to develop new techniques and inventions.
And then finding the support they need to raise everyone's game in that same specialty- remember, it's developed from a cottage industrial complex.

But the BIGGEST problem now is rampant insecurity, stemming from record unemployment; which will lead to low farm harvests, food shortages, famine and skyrocketing inflation.
How to solve the latter, in the midst of the former?
That one na Part 2.

Critiques welcome.
