REVEALED: North Dominates Nigerian Army Recruitment List, South-East With Fewest Candidates

The list of successful candidates for the Short Service Combatant Course 47/2021 has only 13% (49) of candidates from the South-East out of the total number of 361 candidates.

021

Checks by SaharaReporters has revealed that the South-East region has the lowest number of successful candidates as the Nigerian Army unveils the list of new recruits.

The Nigerian Army on Friday released a list of 300 candidates selected for its short service combatant course 47/2021 selection board with about 61 reserves.

The candidates were drawn from all the six geopolitical zones in the country.

But findings by this newspaper revealed that northern zones dominated the list.

The list of successful candidates for the Short Service Combatant Course 47/2021 has only 13% (49) of candidates from the South-East out of the total number of 361 candidates (both successful and reserves).

A breakdown of the list reveals that the South-East has only 42 selected candidates with 7 reserves compared to the North Central zone which has 58 candidates with an additional 13 reserves making a total of 71 candidates (20%).

The South-West and South-South geopolitical zones have slightly higher numbers of candidates than the South-East but lower than any of the Northern zones.

South-West and South-South zones have 16% each on the list with 48 candidates selected from each zone and 10 reserves each.

Candidates from North-East zone totalled 61 with 49 selected and 12 reserves (17%), the North-West has a total of 64 candidates (18%), 55 selected candidates and 9 reserves while the North Central zone has 58 candidates with an additional 13 reserves making a total of 71 candidates (20%).

In a statement on its website, the army asked the shortlisted candidates to report for officer cadet training at the old site of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Kaduna, on April 6.

The army warned that any candidate who fails to report in person by 6pm on April 7 will forfeit their position and be replaced by another candidate on the reserve list consisting of 61 people.

“This is to inform the general public that candidates who are successful at the Short Service Combatant Course 47/2021 Selection Board have been shortlisted and published on the Nigerian Army recruitment portal recruitment.army.mil.ng/ssc/enlisted,” the statement read.

“Successful candidates are to report for officer cadet training at the Old Site of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Kaduna, on Tuesday 6 April 2021. The candidates who fail to report by 6pm on Wednesday 7 April 2021 will forfeit their positions & be replaced by another candidate on the Reserve List.

“Candidates are to beware of internet fraudsters that may operate other websites to publish names and defraud unsuspecting candidates.”

Successful candidates are to report at the NDA with the following: Original credentials and SSC 47 online application printout that bears their passport photograph; four copies of 5 x 7 coloured photograph in suit and in full standing position without cap/hat; two pairs of white (unmarked) round neck vests and navy blue shorts (without stripes); two pairs of black trousers; and two pairs of pure white canvas trainers (rubber type NOT acceptable).

Others are two white bedsheets and pillow cases; one blanket (grey or army green colour); a set of cutleries; two pairs of national dress or suit and casual wears; serving military personnel are to come along with release letters and passes from their commanders/commanding .

Same ipob miscreants cursing anyone with intent of joining the Nigerian Army will now make a U-turn and start shouting marginalisation.

This is what happens when you feel entitled to everything and no one else is.

They dont just know bro. Most of em are ignorant that it's more easier to be a Captain or Colonel in ESN and train foreign troops like the US navy seal, British SAS etc than in the Nigerian army

If you were not been rather silllly and deliberately so too, you would have realised that this affected all southern states, no just the southeast.

But then again i would be surprised if you did

It isn't 100% balanced sha.... but not that bad compared to previous appointments we have seen from Buhari.
SE is a bit lower than average but I think that can also be attributed to the fact that they have just 5 states. NC is also higher than average which is unusual.

Convinient excuse!
No matter the level of "demarketing", the east could easily provide above that number, and you know!
It's been the case since 1966 anyways, and we still here.., able to provide even a service chief under such tortuous conditions..

The only danger to this is when you have an eastern president, finding enough eastern officers to provide any semblance of cover will be hard.
Most of the so-called south east candidates may not be real Southerners to start with..

Yeah a northern dominated military with BH terrorist commanders? Since the pre and immediate post-independence era, brilliant Igbos constituted the best elites of the military corps but everything changed immediately the quota system people came on board

Let me guess you want only Ibos with 5 States in Nigeria to have greater share than Kanuri, Fulani, Hausa , Birom, Idoma , Kaba, Gwari, Nupe , igala and countless tribe that makes up 17 states of 3 geopolitical zone of Northern Nigeria

Ibos and Fulani are quite similar

I don't know which is more touching, your lack of foresight or your lack of intelligence. The ranks of the Nigerian Army are being swelled by the most uneducated part of the Nigerian populace in much the same way that it happened in the Department of State Security. When the most incompetent hands are piloting the affairs of a nation there is bound to be a ship wreck!
Let the so called "IPOB" conserve their strength and patiently bide their time while the mistake called nigeria gradually collapses around them. As for me, I pledge my loyalty to Sunday Igboho.

Let's see:
Who created the 5 only igbo states while flooding the rest of the country with more states?
Who conducted the utterly flawed and discredited census that gave Igbos smaller numbers?
Who used the fake numbers to create more states , more local governments and give more allocations to northern states?
Is there any conceivable reason why your Jigawa state should have more LGAs than Anambra?
Is there any conceivable reason why your or Gombe should have more LGAs and more people according to your warped census than Ebony or Bayelsa?

And why should I be expected to accept such cooked numbers?

You are entitled to your mischief and I'm entitled to continuously rebel against such until I'm able to uproot that..
