The immediate past Vice Chancellor of the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU), Francis Otunta, has died in a car accident. VANTAGE NEWS learnt that the incident occurred on Monday while the VC was on his way to Enugu from his hometown in Afikpo, Ebonyi State. Otunta, who was the fifth Vice Chancellor of MOAU, left office as the VC of the Umuahia-based federal institution on the 1st of March, 2021. He was also a former Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Unwana, Afikpo, Ebonyi State. Born 29th April, 1958, Otunta started his academic journey from the University of Benin where he became a Professor before being appointed as the Rector of Federal Polytechnic Unwana in 2006.
