Business of Manufacturing/Sales of Plastic Lumber

Introduction
Plastic lumber are regular shape building material structural sections which are made from recycled plastics (e.g. PET bottles, buckets, Plastic Containers, PVC-pipes Nylons, pure-water satchet, etc.).
They can be produce to the various sizes of wooden/Steel building materials. E.g 2”x2”; 2” x 4”; 4”x 4”; 1”x 12”, 1- 6” round bar, etc.

Uses
Depending on their shapes they can be used for various purposes e.g Fencing, Rails, Frame structures, benches/Tables, Floor decking, Landscaping/garden furniture, Heavy duty machine flat shock absorber, storage boxes, etc

Benefits of Using Plastic Lumber
1. They last longer. They don’t get rotten or corrode by air/water as in the case of wood and steel.
2. They have very low installation and maintenance cost.
3. They are cheaper than wood and steel
4. They can be recycled and shaped for other purpose.
5. When use as bench, they are softer and more comfortable than wood or steel.
6. When use as fence, nails can be easily driven and remove at any point.

Where to sell them.
The easiest place to sell them is in wooden or building materials market. In this place, they are stock alongside wood or steel where buyers can have alternative materials.

Manufacturing process
Plastics granules are fed into and mixed in an extruder where rapid melting and homogenization occur. A vertical screw plunger discharges the material into a mold. The mold is then cooled in a cooling Tank or in a water spray tunnel and thereafter sent to the section where the products are cut into various sizes.

3. Cooling Tank
4. Other accessories e.g cutter, Die, scale, etc.

Wow, that is cool!

I found out about plastic lumber a few months ago, and all I can say is that I really love it! I don't really know how people invented it, but I like to work with it more than real wood. However, many clients love natural wood. But if I wanted any wooden works for my house, I would choose plastic because it is cheaper, it lasts much longer, and it doesn't require that much attention for maintenance. In addition, it is almost the same working principle as with wood. I've read many cool things on Dweller Power. Many techniques can be used to decorate the house or build a small cabin. So I recommend it to everybody!
