WorldStage Newsonline-- With the result so far released by the Nigeria's Independent National Electoral Commission, the incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan has won the presidential election held across the country on Saturday. With only Borno,Yobe, Taraba, Katsina, Nasarawa and Niger State results expected shortly, President Jonathan has so far won the mandatory 25 per cent in 28 states plus Federal Capital Territory and got 16 per cent of the votes cast in Bauchi and Kano States. Altogether, his party PDP has won 20, 290, 819, followed by CPC with 8,610,230, ACN of Mallam Nuhu Ribadu won 2,098,305 and ANPP: 624,777.

A winner needs the majority of votes and at least 25 per cent of votes in 24 states of the 36 states of the federation. So far Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party has won 25 per cent in some 28 states, leaving his closest rival, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari of the Congress for Progressive Change with victories in only 12 states.

The only state Jonathan was unable to lead in the South is Osun while in the north, he won majority of votes cast in Adamawa, Gombe, Taraba, Plateau, Kogi, Kwara, with results from Niger still pending. The only results that had been declared at the Electoral Institute, the official collation center for the election were those of FCT, Enugu, Osun, Ondo, Kogi and Ogun.

Results from Sokoto gave PDP 309, 057 votes, CPC 540,759. In Katsina, PDP had 424,527 while CPC polled 1,154,000 votes. From Kaduna, PDP had 1,190,129 and CPC had 1,334,244. Voters in Kano who numbered over 5 million gave CPC 1,624,543 votes, PDP 443,625, ANPP had 526,310 and ACN had 42,353 votes. The results from Kebbi gave PDP 369,198 votes and the CPC, 501,453. From Bauchi, PDP had 258,404 votes to CPC's 1,315,209 votes. Voters in Jigawa gave PDP 491,252 and 663,994 to CPC. Nasarawa went the way of CPC with 278,390 votes to PDP's 40,897 votes.
