Three Tips And Tricks To Let Go Of The Past by amirbashir24: 10:45am On Apr 02, 2021
Letting go of the past is easier said than done. You have to bury all those emotions that are causing you pain. All those self-defeating thoughts must be relegated to the dustbin of history. You have to make sure that, regardless of how many difficulties you face in the present, you don't turn to your past for a reference or a clue to get rid of your current travails.

Little wonder, then, most people don't even try letting go of the past. They think it's better if they just bottle up all their emotions in front of everyone and behave as if everything is normal. As if life is going according to the plan they made for it in the yesteryears. They think that there's something wrong with being vulnerable.

Such an attitude rarely yields any positive results. Mainly because burying your [url=https://ashleyevans.guru/trauma-complex-trauma/]trauma[ /url]is easier said than done. You need to be aware of the following tips and tricks if you want to let go of your past and move forward with your present.

Make time for positive self-talk
Want to know what separates pessimists from optimists? The former type of people, whenever they face a difficult situation, ask 'Why Me'? Optimists don't believe in such chest-beating as they know it brings no rewards. As a result, whenever they face a troubling time in life, they ask themselves 'What Next'?

These two words aren't superficial. The thinking behind them can help a person in a difficult situation reframe their thoughts. It might even allow them to prefer their potentially bright future over their inarguably traumatic past. Which is why you might also want to make time for positive self-talk daily.

Be kind to yourself
What is your first response when you're in a painful situation? Some people start finding faults in themselves whenever something goes wrong in their life. They think that the reason why they are in a mess or pain is because they made a mistake. They refuse to recognize many factors outside their control that have contributed to their pain.

Which is what optimists do. I know many of them and the first thing they do when something goes wrong in their life is to offer themselves self-compassion. They don't make comparisons between 'what is' and 'what could have been'. All they do is to accept the present situation without beating themselves as being responsible for it.

Here's how you could do that too. Whenever you're feeling low for one of your mistakes, immediately turn your attention to one of your recent accomplishments. They don't have to be significant. Something as simple as returning an assignment at work before the deadline could and probably should be treated as an accomplishment.

Meditate on a daily basis
Multiple studies have connected the dots between meditation and reduced stress. When we indulge in meditation, we come out of it with more self-awareness, a greater focus on the present and a new perspective on the past. Meditation also increases our tolerance level towards pain and makes us more patient.

That is not all. Research has proved that meditation is exceedingly successful in alleviating problems that are made worse by stress. They include sleep troubles, anxiety attacks, asthma attacks and tension headaches. Symptoms of cancer, high blood pressure and heart disease can also be managed with a daily dose of meditation.

That doesn't mean that meditation should be taken as an alternative to medical treatment. Instead, what I'm trying to tell you here that in your quest to recover from your traumatic past, meditation is one of the most valuable tools you have at your disposal.
