Igbo social-cultural organisation sends a strong message to IGP Usman Alkali, Read what they said

Igbo social-cultural organisation known as Nzuko Umunna has sent a strong message to the new acting Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba. The statement came after the Formal Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, claimed that Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) were responsible for the attack on Imo state prison.

Nzuko Umunna urged IGP Usman Alkali Baba to ignore the hasty conclusion made by Mohammed Adamu that IPOB and ESN were responsible for the attack without a proper investigation. According to Daily Post, the group said that Usman Alkali Baba should adopt a new approach to handling the attack, and find a means to prevent future occurrence.

They went forward and revealed that the attack came to them as a shock, adding that what happened is very sad. Nzuko Umunna also condemned the ugly incident, the destruction of public assets and the death of one fleeing inmates.

Recall that on Monday, unknown gunmen attacked a prison in Imo State, destroy properties, burnt down building and vehicles. They also attacked the police headquarter on Tuesday, free all suspected and set the station ablaze.

In reacting to the attack, the ex-IGP Muhammed Adamu ordered police officers to go after members of IPOB. He charged them to use their weapons against the IPOB members and “crush them to the last man.”

However, an Ex-police Chief identified as Ambrose Aisabor disclosed that the reason IPOB has been attacking Nigerian security operatives instead of ordinary people is that they bent on declaring the Biafra republic.
