Acting Chanchaga LG Chair assumes office, prioritizes security and empowerment.

Jubilation as the acting chairman of Chanchaga local government area of Niger state Hon. Aminu Yakubu Ladan assumed office yesterday in Minna given priority to security and empowerment of the people as 'sacrosanct'.

The former house leaders took over the affairs of the council following the three months suspension of the embattled chairman Alhaji Ibrahim Abubakar Lalalo and his vice for alleged abuse of office, corruption and constitutional breaches.

Hon. Ladan while addressing the council staff, supporters and stakeholders at the secretariat said that his emergence was a constitutional mandated on him by the legislature as resolution to take over the mantle of leadership as the house leader to pilot the affairs of the council for the next 3 months.

He explained that he will pay much priority to the security of lives and property and empowerment of youths, women as well the masses hence to immediately sent an invitation for security meeting with all relevant stakeholders to overcome the crisis rocking parts of Minna to maintained law and order.

He lamented over the current insecurity experienced in the council with no effort from the executive however charged on the security agencies to exhibit capable action to curtail the menace, hence to begin with roundtable dialogue with all that is involved.

Liman further called on every well meaning individuals and groups to join hands with his administration for the progress and development of the council, adding that his tenure will operate an open door policy for advises and constructive criticism by carrying alone everybody.

Consequently, the suspension of Honorable Ibrahim Abubakar Lalalo was endorsed by seven out of 11 Councillors of the local government area during their sitting on Tuesday.

In the notice of suspension made available to journalists after the Legislative Sitting, the Councillors had noted that the suspended Chairman had been given two weeks ultimatum to respond to the allegations made against him but the Chairman failed to respond.

"With reference to our letter to you dated 4 May 2020, 11 August 2020 and 21 January 2021 tagged House Resolution on (abused of power) copies attached in which we demanded an explanation and to be furnished with details of the activities of the council which included Revenue Generation and Distribution, the Council Expenditure, Federal Allocation and Minna Development funds (26 per cent).

"And also to provide an answer to the allegations of abuse of office, corruption and breach of code of conduct for public officers.

"Recall also on the 17 March 2021, we forwarded a letter of reminder tagged "Call for Caution" in which we gave you two weeks ultimatum to respond to the above-highlighted issues which you
failed to honour.

"Consequent upon which we hereby unanimously make the following
resolutions. That the Chairman, Honorable Ibrahim Abubakar Lalalo and his Vice-Chairman, Honorable Salisu Saidu are hereby suspended for three months effective from 6th April 2021."

The Speaker of Chachanga local government Council have been directed to immediately take over as the acting Chairman of the Council pending when the issue is settled.

The Councillors declared that all approvals and financial transactions by the suspended Chairman and Vice-Chairman should be stopped immediately.
