Is There A Rules To Fasting? by fineboynl(m): 12:17pm On Apr 14, 2021
if you think there are rules to fasting kindly help to list them.

this are my observation. during 6am to 3pm or 6am to 6pm fasting. some people wakeup very early between 3am to 5:30am to eat before 6am. so the fasting start by 6am.

there are other thoughts that the stomach needs to be completely empty before embarking on a fast. if there is already food in it then fasting became a none and void.

I want to know if this fasting is valid? if one eat before 6am.

also there are some thought that during fasting it's not a must to pray. but others believe you must pray, and read bible and also pray hardly before breaking it.

be specific with what you are saying because the verse didn't answer the question.

Rule 1 - Fasting is No one's business but yours alone.

Rule 2- God Knows, so why do you fast?

Rule 3- Fasting is gainful ONLY when properly executed.

Rule 4- Fasting is not a burden Isaiah 58: 3-8

Since it's not specified that means God is not asking you to practice it.
Jesus fasted forty days and forty nights just like Moses and Elijah {Matthew 4:2; Exodus 34:28; 1Kings 19:8} that's the type of fasting WRITTEN in God's word, no food or water throughout the days not eating in between!
Therefore Isaiah 58 comes to mind, God is not asking you to starve yourself for him rather share what you have with others! smiley

Those who eat before 6 am are not fasting, they are dieting.

Bona-fide fasting is from 12am to 12pm,3pm,4pm or 6pm. Or even 12 to 12 am 24 hours.

If you refuse to read your Bible and pray when fasting, you are not fasting but dieting.

We fast to communicate with God in a higher spiritual level. That's why prayers and Bible study are very important when fasting.

there is nothing like bonefide fasting. in the bible days it's counted as day 1 and night 2. not time or clock as you have describe it. they use sunrise and sunset for a day fasting.

it's modern time with invention of time we calculated day and night as one day, we started fasting base on half day with time.

the question is if one eat few hours before the fast or sunrise

Are we still living in the bible days?

Do we still fast according to ancient timing in the bible?

by your logic. the fast should start sunset that 6pm to the following day and not 12am.

Fasting in Judaism is defined as total cessation from all food and drink. A full-day fast begins with sunset in the evening and continues through darkness of the next day. A minor fast day begins with the dawn and concludes at darkness.
