...as NUC approves 20 academic programmes for a take-off

The teeming admission seeking Nigerian youths and adults now have a goldmine of opportunities with the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) as the Ivory Tower has been graciously given an official nod to commence her Part-Time academic programmes from the 2020/21 academic session which kicks off in October this year.

The National Universities Commission (NUC) in a letter of approval, signed for its Executive Secretary by the Commission's Director of Academic Planning, Dr N.B Saliu, directed FUOYE to commence 20 Part-Time academic programmes from the 20/2021 academic session.

According to a press statement by the Special Adviser on Media Matters to the Vice-Chancellor, Mr. Wole Balogun, FUOYE's Director of Institute of Part-Time Studies, Prof. Abiodun A Ajiboye, disclosed the laudable development on Friday.

Prof. Ajiboye and his Deputy, Dr Adeleke Omolade, were glad to reveal to the media department at the VC's office that FUOYE shall, from October, 2021, commence the Part-Time programmes with 20 courses that cut across the 11 faculties of the great and upwardly mobile Citadel of learning.

The statement qouted Prof. Ajiboye as saying that: "There are over 40 programmes put forward before NUC for approval but only 20 programs were approved for a start. The approved programmes included: B.SC Agric Economics and Extension, B.SC Food Science and Technology; B.SC Soil Science and Land Management; B.SC Sociology, B.SC Banking and Finance ; B.SC Political Science and B.SC Psychology.

"Others are B.A English and Literary Studies, B.A History and lnternational Studies, B.A Religious Studies, B.A Theatre and Media Arts, B.SC Demography and Social Statistics , as well as B.SC Peace and Conflict Resolutions.

"Also approved are B.SC Public Administration; B.SC Water Resources Management and Agro Meteorology, B.A Linguistics and Languages, B.Sc Animal Production and Health, B.Sc lnternational Relations; BSc Economics and Development Studies, B.Sc and Sociology".

The statement further added that while admission process for the courses would start very soon, lectures for the programmes shall commence in October and such lectures shall be holding on the main campus temporarily.

"The requirements for admissions are the same with those already published for students on regular undergraduate degree programmes but the duration for the Part-Time courses have one year extension. This means that the weekly part-time students will spend five years for four-year normal programmes, while students on B.SC will spend six years for five year normal programmes..The weekly part-time programmes will commence from 12 noon Fridays through Saturdays," the statement concluded.
