UNOPS, Government of Nigeria Sign Host Country Agreement Blessing Bature-Akpakpan The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) on Thursday signed Host Country Agreement. The agreement outlines the framework for cooperation between the Federal Republic of Nigeria and UNOPS in Nigeria. In her remarks, the Director and Representative of UNOPS, Ghana Multi-Country Office (GMCO), Mrs. Ifeoma Charles-Monwuba stated “We believe this agreement is timely given the increasing presence of UNOPS in Nigeria. The Host Country Agreement will facilitate UNOPS operations in Nigeria and enable an agile and nimble process”. UNOPS assured the Honourable Minister of its commitments to honour all clauses of the Host Country Agreement. She said UNOPS is an operational arm of the United Nations and with a mandate that covers infrastructure, procurement and project management. Where appropriate, UNOPS strives to leverage the full suite of its procurement instruments, including Emergency Procurement Procedures, and its global purchasing platform UNWebBuy+ to deliver timely procurement services. Likewise, UNOPS assures its infrastructure solutions adhere to the highest quality construction standards. Also, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, representing the Government of Nigeria, noted that the Agreement is for a new development cooperation with initiatives towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals set in the Agenda 2030. 1 Share
