AMORAN urges Okada Riders in Ogun to be vigilant and security conscious

In the bid to ensure safety on the highways, the Articulated Motorcycle Owners and Riders Association of Nigeria (AMORAN) has passionately appealed to commercial motorcycle riders, better known as Okada operators, to be vigilant and help government stem the tide of insecurity.

The Union acknowledges that Okada riders are mostly on the road and should therefore be partners in progress with security agencies in the state to address the lingering issue of insecurity.

This appeal is contained in a statement signed by the Union's Publicity Secretary, Otunba Taofeek Sokoya and made available to newsmen in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital.

"We admonish our members to be security conscious, the issue of insecurity is worrisome. The number of kidnap cases is on the increase across the country, and we all need to be concerted in the efforts to fight this menace."

"Therefore, we really need to be careful and vigilant when we are going about our operations as motorcyclists. We must report any suspicious activity to the relevant security agencies."

The Union however commended the inspirational leadership provided by Governor Dapo Abiodun in ensuring the safety of the good people of Ogun State.

'We identify the invaluable effort of our amiable Governor, towards curbing insecurity and providing a peaceful environment for the good people of the gateway State. As citizens, we should also complement the government's effort. We should not be tools in the hands of these evil doers".
