GISTMEBLOG247 — Following deliberate discussions and recommendations, the Kwara State Chapter of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), 18-man Reconciliation and Engagement Committee inaugurated on 29th March, 2021, has remarkably fostered unity among members of the party, today, in Ifelodun local government area of Kwara state.

This emerged after the committee first took off on its official assignment from Ifelodun, thereby meeting with the aggrieved party members at Share, the Ifelodun headquarter.

The committee which was led by the former National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje, commended the rare display of colossal courage and sporting sprit of the party members and made it known that the party leadership has considered setting up the committee in order to foster unity among the party members, bringing members on board, and comforting aggrieved members who now live to the reality that PDP is better by far in areas of good governance, policy thrusts and dividends of democracy.

The Chairman, meanwhile inquired other reasons that resulted in previous election loss in their local government.

Baraje noted that while the Committee is currently on a tour to reconcile aggrieved party members across the 16 local government areas of the state, no member of the party would henceforth feel cheated or sidelined on any ground as justice, equity, fairness and level playing ground are orders of the day in the current PDP.

Also in attendance are: Chairman Ifelodun PDP Elders’ Forum, Alhaji Kola Yusuf, former SSG of the state, Alhaji Adelodun Ibrahim, former governor Ahmed Abdulfatah ably represented by his political aide, Alhaji Lekan Alabi from among others

Members of the Committee on the tour include, Sen. Rafiu Ibrahim, Hon. B. F. Ishola, Com. Bisi Fakayode, Amb. Sheikh AbdulAzeez, Alhaji Dabarako Mohammed, Alhaja Sarat Adebayo, Hon. Sikirat Anako and others including the two youths in the Committee, Abdulrahman Kayode and Nurudeen Mohammed.

The Committee also boasted about reconciling various interest groups within the party and iron out issues related to loss of the party in the 2019 elections in order to ensure electoral victory of the party in the forth coming elections. During the meeting, the Committee equally united teeming youths, women, aspirants in the House of Representatives, House of Assembly who expressed their displeasures with the certain situations in the party.

Meanwhile, voluntary financiers of the party who felt the party didn’t patronise them were also engaged to avoid mistakes of the past.

The Committee’s chairman, however, commended the leaders and members of the party for the peaceful resolution in which the meeting went and the unity displayed in ensuring all worked in the interest of the party as every member was actively involved in the reconciliation and engagement process.

He also assured the members that all frank talks during the meeting would not be distorted and reiterated the party leadership’s readiness to wholly implement Committee’s unbiased resolutions.
