According to Eurosport, Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy fired Jose Mourinho because he was concerned that up to ten first-team players would want to leave this summer if he stayed in charge.

After 17 months in charge of the north London club, Mourinho was sacked on Monday.

Levy reportedly made the decision to avoid losing his ‘dream team’ of Harry Kane, Dele Alli, and Gareth Bale at the end of the season.

Spurs are desperate to hold onto striker Kane, but the England captain has already drawn a lot of attention. The player has said that he will not make a decision until the conclusion of the Euro 2020 tournament.

Despite Alli’s lack of form in the last two seasons, Levy is a major fan of the midfielder. Alli had a tumultuous relationship with Mourinho this season, making only two league starts and being left out of the squad entirely for seven games between October and December.

Bale, who joined on loan from Real Madrid last month, has raised concerns about his chances of signing a permanent contract with the club at the end of the season.

Under Mourinho, the Welsh winger only played six league games and was used more regularly in the Europa League.

Mourinho had also frozen out midfielder Harry Winks, who had only made two league appearances since the end of January.
