Governor of Imo state, Ikedi Ohakim, has commissioned two blocks
housing the Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers (Ndieze) and
Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), Imo State Chapter
Secretariat.

The event which attracted traditional rulers from across the state and
neighbouring states was held at the Secretariat’s Complex at the New
Owerri, Imo state.

Speaking, governor Ohakim remarked that the complex would enable ALGON
and Ndieze function effectively and would enhance research, record
keeping and promote quality deliberation and administration.

He enjoined Ndi-eze and ALGON to redouble their efforts in maintaining
peace and security in their domain.

Chief Ohakim further warned Imo people to “avoid any conduct that will
throw our state into confusion. Exhibit patriotism and give peace a
chance and put the interest of the state above personal ambitions.”

He used the opportunity to congratulate President Goodluck Jonathan
for emerging victorious in the recently held presidential election
beating his chest that Ndi-Imo at home and Diaspora gave the president
the largest votes in the country.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy
Affairs, Kezie Ogaziechi, remarked that beyond being youth and women
friendly, the state Governor is “Traditional Rulers and Town Union
friendly” as exhibited in the completion of complexes for the groups.

He assured the governor that the groups under his ministry would
continue working hand in glove in transforming the vision of New Face
of Imo into reality.

Also in an address, the Chairman of Ndi eze, Imo state, Eze Cletus
Ilomuanya, noted that the governor has proven to be a statesman of
strong character and selfless leadership by ensuring the completion of
the secretariat.

“The uniqueness of this secretariat complex for Traditional Rulers is
further amplified by its Amphi-Theatre with a sitting capacity for
about 1000 people… This innovation in all ramifications is
unprecedented not just in history of Imo state but also in Nigeria as
a nation”, he added.

Eze Ilomuanya hence beckoned on Imo people to vote Governor Ohakim in
the upcoming governorship election to allow him complete his good
works in the next four years.
