To be honest it was an eye sore and old to boot. I really don't blame them for constructing a more modern one.

Mr "Mankind!", Abi Makinde, I would have recommended you built a factory producing anything that is being used daily by Nigerians. What a waste of scarce resources. With that amount of money alot of school and hospitals in Oyo state will be well finished and taken care of. What a wicked and selfish leaders we have. God have mercy on Nigeria

At a time like this with all the biting recession everywhere this one is allocating billions to build a house where he will only be visiting. The trouble with Nigeria is not money just visionless leaders allocating money for immaterial and unproductive ventures.

He should have renovated the old lodge & upgrade it to modern facility.
He said he will complete it in six months, there as in f na common man project with that kind amount, they will propose to complete in in 5 yrs.

Even a refurbishment would have been a waste of money, as he could simply stay in a hotel whenever he's in Abuja, just as American governors do when they visit Washington DC. There is absolutely no justification for spending government money to build or maintain any separate residences for governors outside the official ones in their state capitals.

There are some buildings it's not just worth renovating, this was one off them. Also don't doubt that they would have charged the same or even more for the renovation.
