Winning With Cellins by Carmichael: 1:39pm On Apr 24, 2021
In this piece Ned Cellins will focus on two ways to win in the business world. They are Cost leadership and Unique Selling Proposition (differentiation). When you find a way to produce a good or render a service at the least possible cost which so happens to be lesser than what your competitors use (economic cost), you are leader when it comes to cost. You can decide to sell at a lower price or maintain same price and then expand your production capacity with the excess profit. Either way, you are a winner.
Another way to win is through Unique Selling Proposition. Everyone wants his or her products to be outstanding. Entrepreneurship is all about bringing something new to the table. People will patronise you more if they find your brand more appealing than what they were previously used to. Unique Selling Proposition is all about making something that consumers appreciate, look different yet still available to serve the same purpose or even more. This concept is known as differentiation. How you present your goods for sale will affect the returns at the end of the marketing period. Differentiation does not mean changing the product entirely. The producer may decide to change packaging, advertising/business communication process, include a new feature to the service or better still make it unique in his or her own way. Whichever way he or she needs to adopt to make the product well differentiated, it must be one which has a positive response from the consumers.

At the end of the day as a Business leader your aim is to make excess profit while minimizing cost. Good marketing will enable you to present a good or service which will attract consumers even though they are already exposed to other brands for the same price, higher price or lower price. Offering consumers goods with lower price will not do the magic. They need to be assured that your product is quality enough for them to abandon the brand they are previously used to. Low prices are often associated with low quality or standards. What you need to sell your product is the uniqueness you are offering. People need to know why they should ride with you. The ability for you to tell your consumers that your product is a sui generis makes you a business leader (good marketing skills). In the course of your entrepreneurial journey, you will need business strategist to develop concepts, policies and templates that will aid your business growth.
