Akwaeke Emezi
A 32-year old Nigerian writer, Akwaeke Emezi is so proud of her move to make the world believe that she is not a human. As she has been trying to write her name in the heart of lovers of literature, she is also trying to create a new world for herself.

On Friday, December 27, 2019, she took to her Twitter account to share pictures of herself showing her breast-less chest. Her two breasts were totally removed.

In the caption, she said she was celebrating the 6th month anniversary of removing her breasts in what she described as
“second nonhuman-affirming chest surgery”.

Akwaeke Emezi thanked those who accepted her perspectives saying that her “community is phenomenal” and described her “god” as “a big god in the swamp”.

It may interest you to know that it is grammatically incorrect to her if you address her in the singular. She likes to be referred to using plural pronouns (they/them). This is how far she has taken her nonhuman campaign.

However, her nonhuman gimmicks are not what announced her to the world. The fame of Emezi started in 2017 when she won the Commonwealth short story prize (for Africa region) for “Who Is Like God?”

Her debut novel, Freshwater, published in 2018 has solidified her in the world of literature, winning her numerous awards and a lucrative two-book deal with Riverhead.

She published children’s book, Pet, in 2019, and her second adult novel, “The Death of Vivek Oji”, is set for publication in 2020.

There is a limit that one will reach in the quest for knowledge that will eventually lead to foolishness
