Out of 507 illegal immigrants arrested in Ghana, 494 are Nigerians, David Fianko-Okyere, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) and spokesperson for the Regional Police Command, said in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Bolgatanga.

The police spokesperson said the region had implemented a new strategy which included a 24-hour robust patrol on highways and swoops, especially in the Bolgatanga Township. He said the operation led to the arrest of 507 foreigners in the Bolgatanga Municipality and its environs who were citizens of Burkina Faso and Nigeria.

He said the residents of Bolgatanga attributed the rising crime in the region to alleged illegal activities of the foreigners.

He said preliminary investigations by the Ghana Police Service indicated that those arrested stayed in the country without proper documents but said the Ghana Immigration Service was in the process of processing all the foreigners before deporting them.

Ghana is only doing it's job. They aren't Nigeria that welcome terrorists from Niger, Chad, Sudan, Libya etc, without border control or a deportation policy. I wish those about to be deported journey mercies...it's not easy to be on such a list...it takes someone who made it to a foreign country to qualify for deportation...if they didn't gain anything, at least they learnt how to pronounce stuffs with Ghanaian accent.

This is what the fulani terrorists have caused. Empty heads forcing themselves into leadership that they don't know anything about.

they are doing that because it's not a religious/tribalistic country.

North will always allow migrants from Niger, Chad or whatever; because they are Muslims or fulanis with cows

Ghana’s land borders are closed. They have been closed fir the past one year to contain Covid-19. . Despite the closure, some foreigners are still sneaking into Ghana via the land borders. The Nigerians arrested were among foreigners who sneaked into Ghana, in violation of an existing Ghana government order.

In my opinion, any foreigner who violates the border closure order and sneak into Ghana should be arrested and deported immediately. Hundreds of foreigners from many other countries have been arrested and deported from Ghana for trying to break the border closure order. Any foreigner wanting to come to Ghana should come though the airport, or risk arrest and instant deportation.

No form of respect for Nigeria again. Corruption don kill us..

But on a serious note : I've never read anywhere that we're deporting people. Why is it that deportation doesn't happen in Nigeria?
