Cupertino-based tech giant Apple is reportedly seriously working on a foldable iPhone which is expected to launch in 2023. According to a recent report at MacRumors by Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the device is expected to have an 8-inch, QHD+, flexible OLED display. 



There is very little technical info about the foldable iPhone, but analyst Kuo says the company will use a "silver nanowire touch solution" for the display, this technology was developed by TPK and has riveting advantages over Samsung's Y-Octa with huge support for multiple folds. Kuo also disclosed that Apple is already testing the silver nanowire touch tech in the HomePod's touch interface. 

Kuo Ming-Chi claims that Apple’s shipment target for the foldable iPhone is between 15 – 20 million units.

Price for the foldable iPhone might just be another major problem. Currently Samsung Fold 2 is priced at about $2,000 which is almost twice the price of the Galaxy S21. We shouldn't expect the foldable iPhone to be less cheaper than a non-foldable model. For Apple to successfully compete with other brands with foldable phones, the company will need to balance the prices between its foldable and non-foldable devices.
