What we're praising is not the size of the project... it's the thought behind it. She could easily have bought a car, or even just chopped the money, - afterall it was legally allocated to her - but she instead used it to better her community. When she becomes in charge of allocating as rep or senator, she will be one of those advocating for hospitals and schools, not for furniture or newspaper allowance. How much was spent buying Lexus jeeps at the national level two years ago?

This is the kind of leadership we're looking for: using taxpayer money for the betterment of taxpayers, not only to make life sweet for themselves. We need to celebrate and encourage these kind of leaders, because we will all benefit with more of them being elected.
