University Of Buckingham (UK) Students Win £3,000 In Technology Competition. by Capital2021(m): 11:51am On May 06, 2021
A three-person team buckler from the University of Buckingham have been named regional winners in the Keyloop Dealer Tech Competition and they were awarded £3,000. They will go on to compete in the national final on May 12, with the chance of winning the £10,000 grand prize.

The competition, run by leading automotive technology company Keyloop, sees students from six UK universities develop innovative solutions to solve some of the automotive industry’s biggest challenges.

The three-person Team Bucklers, comprising of Yoon Cho, Jesper Liedholm, and Thomas Humphreys were tasked with developing a technology product idea to help car dealers transition their business amidst today’s tech trends, the impact of Covid-19, and modern consumer demands.

The competition began in October 2020 and, since then, 18 successful proposals progressed to the ‘idea development phase’, during which students built out their proposals into product ideas, with the help of a mentor from Keyloop. The successful ideas have incorporated technology to develop and improve areas such as dealer to customer engagement, the purchase journey for sales and servicing, data tools for dealership staff, and car ownership and connectivity.

Team Bucklers' idea was for a driving analysis tool that builds a consumer profile based on how he/she uses the car. This can then identify any issues or risks with the car, predict when they may buy their next car and recommend a model.

Team member Thomas Humphreys stated that: "It has been an exciting journey working together to solve real-world problems in the automotive industry.

"We are thrilled to have competed in Keyloop’s Dealer Tech Competition and look forward to applying these skills in our careers."
