HOW MUCH WALLPAPER PASTE DO I NEED?
When you choose the perfect wall covering, you want to learn the proper way to hang it so that it looks great and remains securely in place.

Wallpapering can be a tricky procedure. Applying too much paste will create a sticky mess. Not hanging the covering correctly may end with an uneven appearance that falls down quickly. For perfect results, here is a step-by-step guide to teach you how to calculate and control the correct amount of applied paste.

Before starting, you must make sure the wall is completely clean, dry, and smooth.
Measure the height and width of the wall. Add an additional two inches around the wallpaper for cutting.
Hanging instructions are usually printed on the first roll of paper and should be carefully read.
Cut each strip where indicated and line them in the correct order.
To make sure the first strip is hung perfectly straight, you must mark the end of the strip and draw a straight vertical line down the wall, which is slightly wider than the strip.
Paste carefully in corners and around the perimeter on the wall so that no places are missed.
Roll the paste onto the wall approximately one and one-half strips wide.
To test the amount of paste applied, slide your finger through it. Too little paste will show no trace of your finger path. Too much will leave a clear view of where you moved your finger. The correct amount will only leave a trail of a path.
To begin hanging the paper, begin on the left and work right.

HOW TO MIX WALLPAPER PASTE
Once you’ve selected the perfect wallpaper, you’ll have to choose a compatible adhesive to ensure the paper sticks to the wall properly without obvious imperfections.

Mixing wallpaper paste is easy. Follow these instructions and watch the embedded video for good results. A good start is to follow the manufacturer’s guidelines for selecting the best type of paste for their wallpaper. In general, heavier wallpaper requires a fuller-bodied paste. These how to mix wallpaper paste instructions are primarily focusing on a wallpaper paste made for non-woven wallpaper.

For exceptional paste consistency, it’s important to use proven mixing techniques. For this project, you’ll need a mixing stick, wallpaper adhesive, water and a plastic bucket.

How to mix wallpaper paste in 6 simple steps
Check the adhesive package to find out how much water you will need based on the type of wallpaper you are hanging.
Fill the bucket with the appropriate amount of water. Measure the correct amount of paste for the square footage of wallpaper to be hung. Paste is often packaged in individual pouches.
Begin to stir the water with the mixing stick.
Slowly and steadily, begin pouring the paste into the swirling water while continuing the mixing motion. Adding too much paste at once can create lumps.
Stir vigorously while changing directions to avoid clumping in the middle of the bucket.
When the paste has completely dissolved, let it stand for 10-20 minutes, depending on the instructions. Some paste products can be ready to use in as little as 90 seconds.
Following these simple steps will save time and aggravation while ensuring your wallpaper looks great in your home.
