Insecurity has become a threat to the National peace of Nigeria as Bandits and Boko Haram members continue in their killing and kidnapping spree. The President, Muhammadu Buhari, urged the citizens to link their NIN to their sim cards to curb insecurity in the country.

He stated that:
"NIN will cover one of the weaknesses in our security structure. We will be able to easily identify and know the personality of Nigerians. We will identify people easily, including the crooks.”

Linking NIN to sim cards will grant the government access to identify citizens through personal data.
