Good day all, listed below are some of the reasons why I think the quality of education in nigera is falling over the last decade.

1. Poor Teachers salary: this is going to be number one on the list because alot of teachers are underpaid most especially private schools where teachers er paid as low as 15k per month even with certificates their pay is not still up to 50k. This will greatly affect the quality of the education because most of this teachers in other to provide for them selfs and family will engage in side hustle like doing petty trades.

2. Lack of regulation: Another factors is lack of regulation of schools most especially in the area of employing trained and qualified teachers, this is very common with private schools where most of the teachers er just ssce holders with a few having nce and bsc/hnd.

3. Lack of jobs: it is no news that over the past decade the rate of unemployment in nigeria has greatly increased and as such many people er just trying to make money especially freash graduate, in the name of making a living this fresh graduates try to get any job even if it's a teaching job that they don't like or even if it's subject that they have knowledge in, all they care for it's just to get paid.

4. Teachers work load: many teachers here will attest to that fact that they are overworked. Most of this teachers teach multiple subjects, even multiple classes (jss1 to ss3). As we all know man is not a machine. Even machines er nor 100% efficient, so therefore the more subject or classes they teach reduceses their efficiency.

5. No motivation: our teachers er not properly motivated to do their jobs, we have seen alot of strikes by teachers ranging from late payment of salary to salary not being paid for months, you don't expect somebody who has not been paid for like 4 months to teacher in his or her full capacity.

6. Nysc: yes this is another factor, posting corp members whom are not trained in education to teach is another problem. This plain truth is teaching is a skill and should be done by proffectioners

Pls feel free to add yours
