I'm sure I will catch hell for this comment, but hear me out:

The role of a government is to make life better for its citizens. That's why people organize governments.

Let me say here and now that I fully support Boko Haram if it will ultimately do better for the people in those regions and make them as prosperous as Libya or Egypt (though they are having their own problems). There are good examples in Saudi, Dubai, Qatar, so being a homogenous muslim country is not necessarily a bad thing. They should avoid the South sha, since we're not interested.

If Boko Haram can take better care of the people of Borno, Yobe, and other northern territories, I see no reason why the Nigerian government should keep making noise when it has failed in its fundamental duty to make life better for its people and protect its territory. Government is not by mouth, it's by action. It's not by stealing money and buying houses abroad, it's by loving your populace (and yourself) enough to educate them, empower them, listen to them, protect them, uplift them, encourage them. Skip a few fancy cars and fund pipe-borne water. Nigerian leaders brought this on themselves.

The USA, and indeed many countries, fought for their freedoms from an oppressive government and those rebels are now called "founding fathers". It all depends on who won and who is writing the history books.
