One Page Checkout Vs Multi Step Checkout Process For Ecommerce by kumarroshan2: 1:25pm On May 11, 2021
eCommerce industry has observed massive changes in the last 1 year. The global pandemic has changed the purchase behavior of the customers. Mobile transactions have been increased significantly and it has become mandatory for each and every business to have a digital presence. Businesses are trying their best to come over the recent challenges and trying to meet customer expectations. The improved user experience can help the online business to retain customers and reach out to new customers.

Checkout page is one of the most crucial elements of an online store, so it is really important for businesses to offer a top-in-class checkout experience to the customers. Improved user experience will also help the businesses to increase the chances of conversion and sales. Generally, the One Page Checkout design or Multi-Step Checkout design is the most popular checkout design used by most of the eCommerce stores. Each checkout design has its own pros and cons. Before implementing the checkout design each business should conduct the competitor analysis, A/B testing, and analysis of the latest trends in the industry so that they can deliver the best checkout experience to the customers.

For the eCommerce websites, it will be good to have a One-page checkout process so that customers can easily understand the checkout process to complete their orders. A good checkout page should have the following features:
1. Login options: The customer should be able to log in to the account or can create an account from the checkout page itself. The checkout page should not redirect the user to the Registration or Login page. This can increase cart abandonment.

2. Social Login: It will be good to provide social login options to improve the customer experience.

3. Address autofill: Offer address auto-fill feature to help the customers to enter the billing and shipping address with ease.

4. Multiple payment methods: Offer multiple payment methods on the checkout page so that customers can select the best-suited payment method as per their preference.

5. Multiple delivery methods: Offer multiple delivery methods like cost-effective, fast delivery, overnight, etc.

6. Save address feature: Allow customers to save the addresses like Office, Home, etc that will make it easy for the customers to place an order.

7. Cart update option: Allow customers to increase the quantity, or remove the product from the cart.

8. Message: Allow customers to add messages for the delivery.

The One Page Checkout and Multi-Step Checkout both offer all the points mentioned above but still, the one-page checkout module has some additional benefits over the multi-step checkout process. You can refer to the article - "5 Compelling reasons why One Page Checkout is better than Multi-page checkout" for the details. The key points discussed regarding the One Page Checkout on this article are following:
1. Fewer clicks
2. User-friendly interface
3. Higher chances of Conversion
4. All the details on the same page
5. Easy to understand

By optimizing the checkout page of the store the store admin can reduce cart abandonment. The admin should keep the track of the user behavior on the checkout page and try to remove the unnecessary steps or distractions from the checkout page.
