FGC Nise PTA exonerates Principal Ekumankama of allegations, says petition laughable

The Parents Teachers Association (PTA) of Federal Government College (FGC), Nise in Anambra has called on the Federal Ministry of Education to disregard a petition against the principal of the school, Mrs Ijeoma Ekumankama.
The PTA said this while reacting to a petition entitled “Our Children Use Maggot Infested Toilets Like Prisoners” under the aegis of Concerned Parents of FGC, Nise and signed by one Dr Kenenna Obiatuegwu.
The petition raised a number of allegations including fraud, poor infrastructure, unhealthy environment, malnutrition and intimidation of parents by Ekumankama.
A Statement by the PTA signed by Dr (Mrs) Chinasa Iloabueke, Chairman, Mr Chris Obichukwu, Secretary and five other members of the executive described the allegations as unfounded and distanced the association from it.
The PTA said Obiatuegwu who signed the published petition on behalf of "Parents" is not known in FGC Nise PTA was a meddlesome interloper as he had no child in the college.
The association said they were working assiduously within the limits of resources available to improve the learning and living condition of students and exonerated the principal of meddling with PTA funds.
“We hereby categorically disassociate the PTA from the publication which contained unfounded allegations.
“The present PTA executive has been working tirelessly in partnership with the college management and the government in upgrading the facilities in the College.
“PTA funds have been judiciously applied in complimenting the efforts of both the Federal Government and College management to ensure improved quality of the learning environment for our children, the principal does not control the PTA funds,” it stated.
The association said unlike alleged in the publication, the PTA responded to areas of needs such as staff needs and infrastructure upgrade, pointing out that the principal’s staff quarter was not built with the funds of the PTA.
It said PTA teaching and non teaching staff numbering over one hundred were paid as and when due including salary arrears resulting from the Covid-19 lockdown of 2020 approval was made for pay increase in response to prevailing economic reality.
“Since we came on board, the entire SS2 girls hostel and all the adjoining corridors connecting it with SS1 Girls Hostel has been tiled, the students’ dining hall has also been tiled in partnerships with the college
“Renovation works at the SS3 boys’ hostel toilets are ongoing, ceilings in some class room were replaced also in partnership with the college and PTA has never signed any cheque in favour of the Principal.
“The government runs a Remitta account and no federal government ministry maintains a bank account and The PTA is duly represented in the SBMC.
“The continued and unwarranted attack on the Principal and by extension the PTA executive is misguided and vindictive.
The Principal of the College has been a lady of very strong character and a disciplinarian per excellence. The college under her leadership has witnessed meaningful transformation in areas of infrastructure and discipline with visible transformations.
“Consequent upon the above, we pray the Federal Ministry of Education to disregard the frivolous petition against the Principal. Indeed, some of the allegations are laughable,” it stated.

Dear Mr Obichukwu,
Whoever advised you to send this letter intended to expose the rot in Nise PTA executive.
You have shot yourselves in the foot.
Nairaland is not the school PTA whatsapp group that only admin are allowed to comment or make suggestions because you all are afraid of your shadow.
The report that has gone viral is true. More is coming!
If you doubt it, open the school whatsapp group and allow parents to comment.
The rot, shady collaboration and your secrets in the hands of the principal have reduced you, PTA Secretary and executive to the rank of spokesperson of the Mrs Ekumankama.
Shame!

Do mind him, God will punish them for all their bad deeds in that school. They will never go unpunished for the inhumane treatment they are giving to our children.

You didn't address the allegations level against that fantastically corrupt principal.
THIS IS THE PETITION:
The Honourable Minister Of Education.
SAVE THE LIVES OF OUR CHILDREN
We the entire parents of Federal Government College, Nise, Anambra State, humbly wish to bring to your attention, the deplorable/unbearable living condition of our children, couple with school fees scam in FGC Nise, Anambra State.
Honourable Minister sir,
On Fraud sir,
1. The official total number of students on roll in the college is 2,015. This is the number of students the Principal Mrs Ekumanakama, presents to the Federal Ministry Of Education, while the actual number of students schooling in FGC Nise is approximately 4,000 students. The 2,015 students pay their school fees into the TSA as stipulated, while the remaining balance gets fake receipts from the Principal's cabal, because they pay cash to them. Honourable Minister sir, the cat was let out of the bag, when the school teachers rejected the extra moral class lesson money they organise for the students. The Principal gave them extra lesson money for only 2,015 students, the teachers rejected it, insisting that the students they are teaching are more than 2,015 and that they are about 4,000 students. To further prove their point (the teachers) they insisted that the school Management should ask every student to produce their original school receipts. Honourable Minister sir, you can verify this allegation directly from the teachers or the WhatsApp group chats of the PTA where instructions to that effect was issued to parents. No wonder she was able to build her magnificent duplex in less than 4 months.

2. Our Children are presently living in an overcrowded hostels with maggot-infested overflowing toilets. The Principal, Mrs Ekumankama defiantly refused to improve these children's living conditions despite all the resources channelled in by the PTA. She rather diverted the school's funds for the building of her magnificent duplex of residence.

3. Our Children are malnourished due to very poor feeding in the school despite support with provisions by the parents, and these happen under Principal’s watch. Honourable Minister sir, what the school Management does is, if they are supposed to cook 3bags of rice for the students, they will rather prepare one and half bag. The food becomes too small for about 4,000 students to share, so what the potters do is, they lock students who came to dining hall some minutes late, with this inhumane treatment meted on the children, they will cover for the short-fall. The remaining one and half bag of rice, will be shared between the Principal and potters.

4. The hostels and Dining of these children are worst than prison. They are so overcrowded with a population of about 4,000 students.

5. The Principal has monetised punishment. If a Student commits an offence, instead of serving punishment as a corrective measure, the Principal will ask the parents to pay money as punishment or the children would not write exams.

6. Indiscipline is on the rise. The reason is not far fetched, when students are not disciplined when they misbehave, rather their parents are asked to pay money.

7. Homosexuality and Lesbianism is on the increase. A Homo was caught, instead of the Principal to punish the Homo, she deboarded the students that caught him.

8. The principal extorts money from students and parents with reckless abandon. She has asked a particular set of SS3 students to pay for school magazine twice, all because she wanted more money.
All SS3 Students were asked to #5,000 each for plastic chairs to be used for WAEC Exams, these chairs were never given back to the students instead the Principal took them.
Beyond this, she asks parents to bring different types of materials ranging from bulbs, biros, white board markers, tissues, detergent, brooms, cobweb sticks etc. These items are brought every term. She claims money does not come from the Ministry to make any of these provisions in the school, but after all these requirements are collected from parents, she loads them in a truck to resell in the open market. This is what she has been doing for years now.

9. The student/ teacher ratio in FGC NISE is about 1:100. This is totally against the Federal Government stipulated policy of a maximum of 1:40. This is due to fraudulent admission process by the Principal where admission is given in exchange for money, hence stretching the school's limited resources. Infact some subjects do not have teachers. This has lead to a very poor academic performance of the students in both internal and external examinations.

10. The clinic where the children are taken to when they are sick, lacks basic life saving equipment. Children with diarrhea and vomiting were given Sprite mixed with salt, under the Principal's watch.

11. Honourable Minister sir, Mrs Ekumanakama (The Principal) is in level 15, while there are those who are her senior in level16 in the school but are Vice Principals. She bribed her to become the Principal just to come mess the welfare of our children.

Honourable Minister, the above burning issues and the threat of the Principal on Parents with DSS, Awka South division and Nigerian Police especially on the 10th May, 2021 when DSS invited one of our Parents, Dr Mrs Ezinne Nwanneli to their office, her constant bragging of her ‘High connections’ to government officials, plus her use of DSS and Police to harass parents necessitated our resolve to cry out to your honourable office for urgent attention. You are our only hope of remedying our Children’s plight.

Thank you as we anticipate your urgent response.
