The Africa-France summit was to be held from July 8 to 10 in Montpellier in the south of France. It has finally been postponed to October due to travel constraints related to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The health crisis had already forced the Élysée to cancel last year’s Africa-France summit planned in Bordeaux. This time, the travel restrictions linked to the epidemic have pushed the presidential palace to postpone the event. “The travel restrictions set at the international level will not be sufficiently lifted this summer to allow the arrival of hundreds of guests from the African continent,” wrote Montpellier City Hall in a statement.

The city hall also specifies that the estimated gauges to date for public events would not allow to widely involve the inhabitants of the Metropolis. The summit is thus postponed for three months. It will still be held in Montpellier, October 7 to 9. These dates should allow the organization of this important summit in an ambitious format, adds the statement.

I don't think the atmosphere in Paris is suitable for the president at the moment due to the political tensions between isreal and Palestine. He should be in Nigeria. What if world war breaks out while he is in Paris?
