What Is OCD And How To Overcome It? by drsdiwan(m): 8:18pm On May 18, 2021 |
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a condition that involves compulsive behavior in a person's private and emotional space. It is a disorder with symptoms like anxiety, fear, and worry. When you are confronted with compulsive behavior, the natural response one would feel is to try to get rid of it. The problem with that is that by getting rid of the compulsive behavior, you are also removing part of your comfort, leading to anxiety and fear when your brain recognizes that it is no longer "safe" to be in that certain space. Many people believe that they need to do something like drugs, or alcohol to combat their OCD. This is not the case at all. There are many successful outcomes of therapies that use more natural modes for OCD treatment in Bhopal. A great example of this is exposure therapy (Cognitive therapy). Cognitive therapy is used to desensitize the person to his or her OCD thoughts. The goal of cognitive therapy is to reduce the number of obsessions (compulsions) that a person has. Once a person learns how to reduce their obsessive compulsive behavior, the anxiety will diminish as well. This is done through teaching the person how to deal with thoughts that do not compulsive. For instance, when a person finds that they have thoughts of violence towards themselves or others, they can learn cognitive therapy to deal with such thoughts. They will be taught to take control of their thoughts and make the choice to act on their impulse instead of letting the thought takes over. Cognitive therapy is a good way to deal with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. There are other options such as medications that help reduce the compulsions of OCD, but they often have side effects that can cause the patient to still be obsessed with their obsessions. However, it is better to see a psychiatrist in Bhopal. A trained professional can only come up with a personalized OCD treatment plan for you. Final Words: One out of every fifty people suffers from it, which makes it one of the most common mental disorders. Many people think that OCD is just laziness or a chemical imbalance in the brain, but this is untrue. In fact, OCD is more of an anxiety disorder. The disorder involves rituals that are doing to relieve anxiety, and not necessarily because of mental health issues.
