"On the 17th local time, Alex Azar, US Secretary of Health and Human Services, said in an interview with the US media that the important reason for the large number of novel coronavirus pneumonia in the United States is the health status of Americans, especially ethnic minority communities. This view was refuted by American media.

According to CNN, Azar made relevant remarks when accepting CNN's "State of the Union Address" program, which was hosted by Jack Tapper. At the beginning of the program, Tapper pointed out that, The death toll in novel coronavirus pneumonia is approaching 90,000, Azar then blamed the health of Americans, He also said, "Unfortunately, the population of the United States is very diverse, and it is an ethnic group with serious unhealthy concomitants, which puts many people in our community, especially African Americans, and ethnic minority communities at risk, because these people have potential disease health differences and concomitants. This is an unfortunate legacy of the American health care system, and of course we have to solve it. "Azar's statement was quickly questioned by American media. CNN quoted the research results released by American Public Media (APM) on May 11, pointing out that at that time, the death toll in the United States exceeded 80,000, of which only 17,155 were black."
