Israel and Hamas have agreed a ceasefire after 11 days of fighting that have left more than 200 dead - the vast majority of them Palestinians.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office announced the ceasefire and a security cabinet statement called it "mutual and unconditional".

Hamas said the truce would begin at 2am on Friday (midnight UK time), but Israel did not confirm the time.

The breakthrough came a day after US President Joe Biden called for a "significant de-escalation" and followed mediation bids by Egypt, Qatar and the UN.

Speaking from the White House after the ceasefire was announced, Mr Biden sent his "sincere condolences to all the families, Israeli and Palestinian, who have lost loved ones" in the fighting.



Mr Biden said Israel's Iron Dome defence system, developed in collaboration with the US, had saved "countless lives" since the crisis began and that he'd pledged his "full support" to Mr Netanyahu to help replenish it and ensure his country's security in future.

My issue in all these is how Arabs continue to point to 1948 and 1967 agreement.

Hama's will never stop before this current escalation they've been firing rocket but on lesser scale and they continue to do that....


The troubling aspect of this is that they continue to do that in neighborhoods occupied by civilians and the civilians in Palestinian territories are supporting them by not speaking out against them and once Israel retaliate they start crying like a victim.....

Gaza is densely populated over 2 million people in such a tight open prison that cannot leave easily because they are monitored and Israel decides what gets in or out of Gaza civilians are everywhere in Gaza the place is tight and the population is boom.Israel also has some of its military power in civilian areas too.

Muslims are always easily provoked, even on issues that are not directly related. I was just praying that Palestine-Israel conflict will not spill over to Nigeria.
Palestinians need to use their heads more than their emotions in dealing with Israel.

You can't get provoked over civil issues and attack a much stronger force and get annihiliated.

The Arab community will have to work towards ending all hostility with Israel, negotiate a 2 state solution with Israel and sign a non aggression pact with Israel.

In an event of provocation, International law and court should be approached.
