I have no doubt in my mind that the 2011 election that ushered in the new National Assembly members is free, fair and credible. The transparency of the process has continued to receive tremendous commendation from both the domestic and international observers.

Aparently, Nigerians voted for these new leaders base on their individual track records, anticidents and transparent honesty.The era of party premordial sentiment is gone with wild wind. Nigerians hold their NASS members in high esteem and as such expect them to legislate on those critical issues that have far reaching implication on the lives of every citizen.

Incidentally, one of the key challenges that the Nigerian electorates shall be looking up to their new crop of legislators to tackle head on is the cancerous 2 years advance rent payment.

Nigeria is part of the global community and hence, its worth demanding for us to tailor our policies and programmes to reflect international best practices. Ironically, Nigeria is the only nation among the international community where 2 years advance rent payment hold sway.

To whom much is given much is expected. The new National Assembly members should place national interest above personal interest in the discharge of their legislative assignment. Is time to make laws that will address the MONSTER called 2 years advance rent payment.

Have they always done this, or is it a recent phenomenon?

How easy/difficult is it to kick out someone who is renting from you but not paying their rent?

And how should this problem be fixed?
