Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State and the Nigeria Police Force have agreed to collaborate in order to enhance the security of lives and property in the University

This was made known today when the Divisional Police Officer for Ikwo Local Government Area, Ebonyi State, CSP (Dr.) Livinus Nwenyim paid a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Sunday Elom.

CSP Nwenyim, said he deemed it necessary to pay a courtesy call on Prof. Elom to congratulate him on his appointment as the 3rd Vice-Chancellor of the University, familiarize with the University Management and also work with them to ensure maximum security of lives and property on campus, noting that the present situation of the country is critical, therefore the University needs collaborative policing to ensure the safety of students.

“We need to cooperate and synergize with you to ensure the security of lives and property on campus. It is a symbiotic relationship.

“We need to be proactive in order to nip crimes and criminalities within and around the campus in the bud.”

He also noted that his men were already on ground and working assiduously to maintain law and order in the University, nevertheless, he stressed the importance of increasing the number of police personnel on campus due to the prevailing security situation in the country.

CSP Nwenyim further appealed for the support of the University Management in repairing their damaged Hilux vehicle to enable the Force increase surveillance within and around the campus

While speaking during the courtesy call, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Elom commended the Divisional Police Officer for finding time to visit the University, pledging to work with him to provide water-tight security on the campus.

He also assured him of the commitment of the University in providing the necessary facilities that would enhance the security of staff and students as well as property on the campus, adding that the University would assist the Force in repairing their damaged vehicle.

The Vice-Chancellor used the opportunity to also commend them for the role they played in the Students Union Election that was recently conducted without security hitches; and advised that they work closely with the University Security and Students’ Affairs departments for effective and efficient campus policing.

“It is so thoughtful of you. We are grateful for your coming. We will work with you to achieve our goal of ensuring that our students study in a peaceful environment

“Let me also assure you that the University will do everything possible to ensure that our students are safe

“We will assist you to put your vehicle in order”, the Vice-Chancellor concluded.
