It is about a week or so (or so it seems) since some followers of embattled Senator of the federal republic, Sen. Peter Nwaoboshi were suspended from the winning party in Delta State. Since then they have been droves of resignation letters flooding the social space.

A total of 8 or more known followers of SPON decamped to the All Progressive Congress (APC) sighting unfair hearing but it is not unexpected. Truth be told, their quiting the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is not news, no matter how they tried to make it seem. The signs have been all over the place, it was only a matter of when rather than if.

The only question on a lot of mouths today is when is Sen. Peter O. Nwaoboshi leaving the party? Because as it stands, even if he still remains in PDP - for now - it is clear that his interest lies somewhere else. There had been indications and pointers that he was on his way out of the party. First, his absence from the last PDP congress proved his lack of interest for party activities. SPON had already abandoned his party, he hardly attended his party's functions in his LGA and state as he hobnobbed with opposition at the national level for personal gains.

Also recall that the Senator went against his party's position by supporting Sen. Lawal as Senate President, after which he was compensated with the Chairman of NDDC position, in addition to that, it was alleged that all his corruption cases seems to have been forgiven by the APC led Federal Government. The straw that broke the camel's back was when Chief Elofu Dike his preferred choice for Oshimili North LGA Chairman lost out in the primary election and decamped soon after.

It did not end there, he continued to publicly show his disdain for his party by using APC members to execute his empowerment Programme. So many known members of PDP where denied said empowerment because it was being run by the opposition as they used his structure to build APC as against the interest of his party.

The good news is that PDP were swift in putting their house in order. The one month suspension issued to 5 followers of SPON was long overdue. It made it clear to everyone under the umbrella party that no one is above the laws of the party. You can not eat food with both hands just as you can not be APC at night and PDP during the day. It is important that PDP knows those who are for them, not those who pretend to be for them. Party decisions may not always favour everybody in the party, but the term "party is supreme" remains sacrosanct. The PDP leaders can not, and should not fold their hands and watch as some disgruntled few try to take down the party we all love from the inside.

Sen. Peter Nwaoboshi must decide fast where he belongs, because as he stands, he is neither of PDP or APC (even if the whole world knows he is more of APC than PDP). Sen. Nwaoboshi should decide fast because the clock is ticking, if he continues to maintain his deceitful position of being a faithful party man, then maybe he is not faithful to no one but himself and his personal interest. The party was supreme with him as PDP State Chairman, it remains supreme till date. One man can not be bigger than PDP.
