HOW DOES CAR BRAKING SYSTEM WORK?

A Car braking system is one of the most important part of a car because of its safety importance and it must be given much attention to prevent accident.

Every Car has braking system and it's connected to its four wheels.

For the brake to function accordingly, it must work in paripassu with an hydraulic fluid.

Types Of Braking System

There are two types of brake

1)DISC BRAKE
2)DRUM BRAKE

Many cars with four wheel drive goes with disc brake all through, some goes with disc brake at the front and drum brake at the back.

*DRUM BRAKE*

Drum brake is normally small round and has a set of shoes inside. The drum brakes normally rotate alongside the wheel and whenever the brake is applied, the shoes will automatically be forced against the inside of the drum.

The Drum brake has a wheel cylinder instead of a caliper with pistol that pushes the brake shoes against the inside of a spinning drum.

*DISC BRAKE*

This kind of breaking usually has a shape of a Disc and are of metal running alongside the wheel.
When a brake is applied, the caliper will squeeze the brake pad against the disc which will slow down the motion of the wheel, and as more pressure is added to the brake pedal, it will bring the car to a stoppage.

FEW DIFFERENCE BETWEEN DISC BRAKING SYSTEM AND DRUM BRAKING SYSTEM.

Disc brake and Drum brake are both based on a hydraulic pressure system.

Breaking starts with a mechanical Force from the foot pressing the brake pedal.

*DISC BRAKE*

1) Disc brake goes with caliper, pad and rotor

2) it is always placed at the front wheel of the vehicle because of its activeness.

3) it has stoppage power resulting to in shorter stopping distances

4) Since they are exposed to air, Disc brake cool better and faster.

5) Can perform better in wet conditions because they are open to air and can remove water off easily

6) they are lighter

7) Disc brake are self-cleaning, the break pads wipe the rotor off when they are on a motion.

*DRUM BRAKES*

1) Drum brakes includes the shoes, wheel, cylinder and drum

2) The brake are always at the back wheels of a vehicle

3) Because they are not exposed to air, drum brakes always take more time to cool

4) They takes longer for the friction material to dry out when water gets inside the drum.

5) The brake are heavier

6) Drum brake are closed and are prone to brake dust collecting from the shoes.

*SUMMARY*

Breaking system in every motion is the most important and must be giving much attention to avoid the unforeseen.

For a better braking system, Disc brake are always advisable because it's can deliver excellent braking performance though it's more expensive but there is no management when life is involved.
