As the country marks Children's Day today, the Head Interpol Systems Nigeria and Foremost Security Expert Sir Chikwe Udensi has urged parents and guardians to inculcate good morals and sound moral ethics on their children and wards, saying it is a leeway for raising good leaders of tomorrow.

According to Udensi, the quest to take the country to greater heights begins with leaders who are equipped with positive values, adding that a better time to teach them is now.

In a statement sent to IGBERE TV on Thursday, he called on parents to look beyond the conventional funfair in celebrating Children’s Day, urging that good principles and positive orientations will positively transform them to become good ambassadors of the society from childhood.

Sir Udensi highlighted that children are the bearers of hope for brighter tomorrow, maintaining that the dreams of the nation's greatness is in their hands.

The Interpol Expert lamented that Nigerian children are confronted with enormous challenges and horrendous situations on a daily basis.

“Asides the privileged ones, majority of our children are faced with trauma and awful circumstances ranging from living on the streets, communal conflicts, deprivation, hunger, drug abuse, child trafficking, Lack of juvenile justice system, child abuse, rape, violence, poverty and many other social vices” he stated.

Sir Udensi expressed displeasure that majority of Nigerian children lack proper discipline and good orientation that can help them become good leaders of tomorrow.

He urged the Federal and State Governments to pay adequate attention to protection of the lives and rights of children.

According to Udensi, giving them qualitative education, conducive environment for learning, initiating programs and policies that will avail them the opportunity to acquire basic skills for entrepreneurial development is needed now more than ever.

He further advised the government to bridge the gap between privileged children who are in school and less privileged children who cannot afford formal education.

He wishes Nigerian children a Happy Children’s Day Celebration.
